DO YOU HAVE BINGO WINGS?

Featured Image

“Bingo wings” is a common derogatory term for the fat and sagging skin that hang loosely from a person’s upper arms. These folds of sagging skin look like wings and form due to the natural effects of aging.

Those who lose weight suddenly experience rapid fat loss, which in turn creates loose skin in areas like the upper arms. This loose skin can also be caused by the aging process, since the skin loses its natural elasticity with age.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE BINGO WINGS

Bingo wings can make a person feel awkward and can draw unwanted attention. If you have bingo wings and want to get rid of them, a cosmetic procedure you can consider is the arm lift. This procedure removes excess fat and loose skin from the upper arms, creating a more toned and fit look.

An arm lift is also referred to as a brachioplasty. It is an outpatient procedure that can be completed within a couple of hours and is usually done under general anesthesia. After the procedure is over, the patient can return home on the same day, unless there are any other health problems.

THE BRACHIOPLASTY PROCESS

Before the arm lift can be started, a consultation with Dr. Chevray is required. The overall health of the patient is evaluated during this time, and the details of the procedure and recovery process are discussed. Once the patient chooses to undergo the procedure, a date is set for the surgical session.

At the start of the session, after the appropriate anesthesia is administered, Dr. Chevray makes incisions in the side or back of the upper arm. He makes use of medical suction to remove pockets of excess fat. The tissues are tightened and excess skin is trimmed away.

The skin is redraped and then the incisions are closed using sutures. Bandages are placed on the area and medication is given to treat pain and prevent infections.

AFTER BRACHIOPLASTY

Dr. Chevray will provide instructions to take care of the arms while they heal. In order to experience the shortest and most comfortable recovery period for your case, it’s best to follow Dr. Chevray’s instructions as closely as possible.

A degree of swelling and bruising will be present in the region after surgery due to tissue trauma. This will be only temporary and will fade with time. To help control these issues, patients must wear a post-surgical elastic garment.

RESULTS OF THE PROCEDURE

It will take a couple of weeks for the healing to be complete. After this, the results of the procedure will be fully evident. The loose fat and sagging skin are gone and the skin of the arms is smooth and firm. The arms now have a more toned appearance.
