DIEP flap breast reconstruction for breast cancer & BRCA1 in Houston, TX

This patient from Houston, Texas had breast cancer and an inherited BRCA1 gene mutation. She chose to be treated with bilateral mastectomy. She wanted her large and sagging breasts to be smaller and more perky, so she had a breast lift (mastopexy) at the same time as her skin-sparing double mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction with DIEP tissue flaps. She subsequently had nipples reconstructed, followed by tattooing to recreate the color of the nipples and areolas. The patient is pleased with her more perky breasts and smoother and flatter belly.
